Inverting

This section is an overview on using the tool without a prism. The tool can be utilized in a variety of ways with no prism.

Measure the height of the probe rod with the help of a lath, pinched flush against the plumbing cube top. Use a tape measure and take note of value.

Mark the invert depth on the plumbing rod against the manhole rim. Measure the value from the top of the plumbing cube to the invert mark with a tape. Add this value onto the probe rod height number for the overall invert.

(For example, a 4.7ft plumbing rod value + 1.4ft probe rod height = 6.1ft overall depth).

Pipe sizing

For a pipe size, simply mark the plumbing rod against the manhole rim with a dry erase marker for the pipe bottom lip and pipe upper lip. After this, simply measure between the two markings with a tape for the overall pipe size. Once finished, the markings can be erased.

(*The same rod configuration must be used while marking bottom and upper lip readings on the plubing rod for pipe sizing)
